Tour Details

As the trip to Rainbow Mountain, Humantay Lake Peru Day Trip is one of the most preferred day trips from Cusco. This full day from Cusco takes you to the most photographed turquoise lagoon. Laguna Humantay Cusco nestles at 4,200 meters above sea level.

Humantay Lake is also known as Humantay Lagoon or Laguna Humantay locally. This is the first stop on the Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu.

Lago Humantay impacts its visitors with its colours and immensity. Melting glaciers of Humantay mountain feed the lake. It is located on the base of the highest peak of Vilcabamba Mountain Range, Mount Salkantay.

This is one of the sacred lakes to the people in Andes. Infact, Andean Priests (Shamans) visit the lake to offer their gratitude. This ritual is known as Apacheta. They pile stones on top of each other to express their gratefulness to Pachamama (Mother Earth).

This high altitude lake with turquoise waters is one of the hidden gems. It takes an hour and a half hike to reach there from the nearest camp. If you are not keen on hiking, you can rent a horse all the way up.

The route offers some of the captivating sights of Andean highlands. On the way, you will be crossing many farms. You will also see Andean Camelids, Alpacas and llamas grazing.
